How to Use It's a Real Cinch
Master the Art of Tarp Securing
Discover how easy it is to use It’s a Real Cinch to secure your tarps and materials effectively. Watch our video for step-by-step guidance and tips to achieve the best results.
Important Safety Information:
- Keep Away from Children.
- Never place the cinch loop around any human or animal body parts.
- Do not exceed pulling forces rating of 120 pounds pull.
- Never use the cable loop assembly to support a person or lift objects that could endanger life or property
- Follow directions for use whenever attaching, repositioning or releasing It’s a Real Cinch.
- Inspect the cable assembly and block before and after each use for signs of fraying or rust that can result from exposure or misuse.
How to Use It's a Real Cinch?
Please start with the How-to video. While watching, experiment with your Cinching Loop Cable Assembly to find the best angle/position to move the cable through the buckle. As soon as you get it right, you’ll find the adjustment easier and smoother.

Step 1:
Place the speckled block underneath the tarp at your connection point.

Step 2:
Be sure the cinch loop is open wide enough to go around the tarp-covered block.

Step 3:
Fit the cinch loop around the material-covered block.

Step 4:
Tighten the cinching loop around the narrow area.
What’s Included In Every
It’s A Real Cinch Set?
It’s a Real Cinch sets are designed to be better for tarp management than other products. Testing showed that two related components working together were needed for ideal results. Please watch the How-to video for an explanation.

Short (24”) Green Cables with One Line-Connection Point
This easy-to-use connector reaches nearly 24 inches from the cinching point on the tarp to the connecting ratchet strap or bungee cord hook. The cinching loop cable end is fitted with a stop rather than a loop.

It's a Real Cinch Block
The RealHold Block is engineered to be resilient, durable, and visible in low light. Each block is injection molded polypropylene with a shape and surface texture designed for tarp retention and easy handling.

Long (66”) Blue Cables with 2 Line-Connection Points
The blue cable works similarly to the green cable with additional benefits. The blue cable provides a long reach, nearly 5 feet, to the connecting ratchet strap or bungee cord if you place the cinch loop at either end of the cable. Position the cinching loop mid-cable, and you have two connection points, each reaching out about 2 feet in 2 different directions. That helps stabilize the position relative to a truck bed or other fixed ground points.

Frequently asked questions
Is it weatherproof?
Yes, It’s a Real Cinch is designed to withstand various weather conditions. The materials used are durable and resistant to wear and tear. This ensures your tarps and sheets remain secure and protected from the elements.
Can it hold heavy loads?
Absolutely! It’s a Real Cinch is engineered to handle substantial weight. When properly used, it provides a strong and reliable hold for heavier materials.
What if it slips?
If you experience slippage, ensure that the cable is pulled tight before securing it. Additionally, check that the RealHold Block is properly positioned. Adjusting these factors will enhance the grip.
Can I use it indoors?
Yes, It’s a Real Cinch is versatile enough for indoor use. It can be used to secure materials in various settings, including homes and workshops. Its ease of use makes it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Has it been tested?
Real Hold Blocks and cinching cables have been evaluated for their resilience and capacity limits. Materials were chosen because they combine the best qualities at the most affordable price. During development, we distributed 30 sets to tarp users for hands-on user experience reporting. Users liked the way IRC works and surprised us with a list of new uses we’d not considered.
Any user-related issues to look out for?
- Sometimes the sliding open of the cable cinching loop can feel hard. This is often the result of not holding the buckle and cable “in-line” reducing the friction. This friction is what makes IRC work to not balloon off the tarp when first installed.
- The cinching loop may slide off the tarp and insert block if not tightened in the narrow zone, below the top edge. Please see instructional video above for example of proper cinching.
What is the pull limit?
NEVER trust the cable to hold the weight of a person, animal, or suspended load that could be dangerous. IRC products are warranted to withstand wind pull and normal use conditions attachments to 120 pounds of pulling force.
Where can I get instructions?
We created a great directional video here: https://youtu.be/193WoEP1R2E?feature=shared
Why is the insert block speckled with yellow?
That is an improved visibility feature, especially for a dropped block in the dark.
